About KADD

Our Mission

KADD’s primary mission is to safeguard cultural heritage and support the conservation of and research on Karahantepe. Archaeology is a discipline that seeks to understand humanity in every aspect by tracing its past. Karahantepe research focuses on the Neolithic period, particularly the beginning of settled life.

Our Goal

The purpose of our association is to provide support for the scientific research conducted as part of the Karahantepe Research Project, to assist with the maintenance, repair, and conservation of the site, to support cultural heritage projects, and to provide resources to meet the needs of the excavation team and project staff.

Main Objectives of the Karahantepe Project

Comprehensive analyses of the intended uses of special structures, evaluated together with symbolic elements such as sculptures and reliefs.
The examination of the radical social changes experienced with the transition to a settled life through private structures and depictions, and the understanding of the roles of these elements in the formation of the new social order.
Obtaining in-depth information on how spaces are used and which functions they serve through detailed studies on residential buildings.
Clarification of the mounding processes and settlement dynamics in the settlement area, which spans a large area and is located in a dynamic topography.
To document the transformation processes of architectural structures and technological developments in settlements spanning a long period of time. To collect data aimed at understanding how the processes of domestication and the transition to agriculture took place.
Determining the various uses of the region through research to be conducted in the vicinity of the settlement (such as quarries, water collection areas, hunting grounds, and work areas).
