Night at Karahantepe

Karahantepe, where archaeological excavations have been ongoing since 2019 as part of the Stone Hills Project.
It is located within Tek Tek Mountains National Park.

Excavations at Karahantepe, which was settled approximately 11,500 years ago, have unearthed numerous residential and public structures.

In this period, before the advent of productive life, the main food source was wild animals.

The structure, carved out of the bedrock, was probably used for a rite of passage.

Inside the structure is a human head carved from the bedrock, and opposite it are 10 phallus-shaped pillars…
